Is it possible to go from a 5 pin XLR > single 3 pin XLR?
I have an XY Stereo mic with adjustable capsules...I can adjust the two cardioid caps to 180 degree alignment, simulating a figure eight capsule. Could I run these two signals to one track via the 5pin>3pin?

You can combine the two channels but the mic will not be a figure 8 ever because in Figure 8 the capsules are back to back. yours are back to back but they are not on the same plane so it will not really work the same way as true figure 8.

actually, they are on the same horizontal plane with this mic...is that what you were referring to?

You can not turn two capsules that are at 120 degrees into a figure 8 mic sorry. You can try and see what it sounds like but I suspect it will be ugly.

Nice 522. I've heard some nice tapes with that mic.
