R09HR Polarity?
« on: April 29, 2010, 04:20:46 PM »
I'm about to make a 4x AA battery sled for my R09HR and I was just wondering if anyone here knows whether to device's polarity is straight forward or reversed.  Thanks in advance!

i figure it would at least be on the recorder. i don't have mine in front of me, though.

You might want to read this thread before making a battery sled that feeds the R09hr via the external power jack.

I tried doing it with four D batteries and had pretty poor results. When the battery pack voltage dropped below a certain threshold the recorder just shuts down, even though the batteries have over half of their charge yet. The R09hr appears to look for a narrow voltage range thru its power jack.

I ended up making some slugs and feeding the power in thru the battery compartment for much better run times.  Food for thought.

Interesting.  I already bought all the parts, so I think I'll just throw it together and make sure that I test the hell out of it at home before bringing it into a must-have situation.  Thanks for the heads up though, once I get my tests settled away, I'll post my results here.

(EDIT:  and just FTR, sleeve is negative, center is positive)

Okay, been nearly 8 hours with 4x fully charged Sanyo 2700's in the sled, recording at 192kbps .mp3 (in order to allow for lots of time on my 8GB card), and Brightness level "1".  It's still recording, but I'm going to need to pull the plug and pick this up again some other time because I need my R09HR for weezer tonight!
