OK, so this thing is around iPod size, but yet it takes four AA batteries? How small are the components in this thing? Are there any small (stealable) A>D units that do 192 kHz at 24bits if the MINI's isn't that great?

you must have missed the end of the press release where it said, "it slices, dices, it will even mow your lawn."

Looks like there's a preliminary picture on their site now.  Looks cool.

It is Sonosax after all. I doubt they will disappoint.

On second thought, I'm sure the price tag will disappoint, but worth the money. ;D
I don't know just where I'm going
But I'm gonna try for the kingdom, if I can

imagine a 20-40 g HD, able to do stealth 24/192 DVD-Audio grade, implications are you won't need the outboard stuff like A/d or mic pre,ad runs on AA's rather than propiatary bats. While a pricetag of 4000-8000 bucks is nuts-the key here is that is exists. Only a few years back a 2x CD burner for the 'puter was aroun 300-400 bucks...now a more reliable 48x runs $50-$60. Some other maker will look at the CONCEPT, a hi-grade fully integrated recorder and find a way to put most of the features in a product that might at first run $1000,but a tear later go for a bit under $500. Soon we will need to learn how to burn DVD Adio at 24/192

In light of the MT (which I bought one of and still haven't had in my hands yet) issues I've read about, I'm just hoping I can record a show with it.

This is all I could get out of them on 10/14:

Dear Mr.,

thank you for your message and for your interest in our products and developments.
The development of the 2 channel  MINIR2 will follow this of the MINIR82 ( 8 channels ).
However, as the MINIR82 is delayed, we can not actually give you any further information about the MINIR2.
We have added your e-mail address in our mailing list and you will be informed as soon as possible.

Kind regards

Pierre Blanc

I SAW IN A PREVIOUS DISCUSSION SOMEONE QUOTE $3400 FOR THE 2 CHANNEL. SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT FOR SAX TO CHARGE ABOUT $1K MORE THAN SOUND DEVICES. WE'LL SEE HOW MANY PROBLEMS THIS ONE HAS W/THE 8 CHANNEL WELL BEFORE THE 2 CHANNEL MAKES IT TO MARKET - HOPEFULLY ALL THE BUGS WILL BE WORKED OUT BY THEN.
