Benchmark DAC-1 Price Fixed ?

Does anyone have a DAC-1 on sale for less than $975 ?!!!!!!!
Seems to be the list price and no discounting allowed.

I remember reading last year that Benchmark fixed the prices on all their products and if a retailer sold under that price Benchmark wouldn't sell to them anymore.

That blows if they did price fix, try to find one used. $975.00 is pretty steep but after owning mine for over a year, I can say it is definitely worth the money. It will also double as a pre-amp, that's how I use mine, it has a great vollume control &  sounds awesome.

I have no idea about the legality but their arrangement doesn't look any different than what Schoeps does.  If you're really interested in getting to the bottom of it contact your favorite Benchmark dealer and find out what the deal is, but I'm 99% sure someone with Sonic Sense posted here about Benchmark prices going up and that they were creating a minimum price.

I actually was just reading it... looking back at stuff on dac's... the Marc v. Marc stuff is classic "ts.com - the early years" stuff

There's a DAC-1 on Tape-Op and Gearslutz (same guy) for 775 shipped.  Not affiliated
