MD5summer question?
« on: September 22, 2005, 05:25:58 PM »
For some reason when I go to save the md5 file (for flac files) it ends up as a "Flac File".
When I save the only choices I have to save it as are either MD5 or txt files, but either way it saves it as a "Flac File"
and it will not verify the files, I get an error on all 20 tracks???
Somehow it passed verification on the LMA (but unfortunatly the band no longer wants sbd's uploaded and was just deleted :angry3:)
Just curious if this has happened to anyone else.

Yeah this is the first problem I have seen with it. The only reason I have it is because I was having so many problems getting files to upload to the archive so I did everything by the book.
Any idea why this is doing this Bean?
Like I said it passed verification on the LMA but shows errors on all of my files at home.

did you md5 flacs or shn ???

if flacs, if they were encoded at a diff level than they originally were, they all will fail!

I assume you have MKW installed . You can simply right click on the main folder and you "should" see an option to generate MD5's .. i find this to be the easiest route for me for making Md5's of Shn files or Flac file's.

I noticed that on a friends Machine when he used Md5summer it would add some bunk info to the Md5 which would make the Md5 fail. when in fact the files were not corrupt nor incomplete.

you may wanna check the info in the Md5 . (open it with word pad or something) and make sure there is not more info than you need.

I did change the setting to level 8 from 6 for this show, why would that affect the md5 files???

 I will try MKW .
I  found out the hard way about that additional info in the md5 file so I'm all over that step.
I'm waiting on  curator approval  at the lma for my first upload there (pending and email from the band to accept a sbd upload)
now so maybe somehow the md5's really did check out ok ???
One more thing how do I go about changing the metadata  I put the md5 checksums in the setlist field (I'm a duuumas)
I appreciate the help guys, I think I finallly got this uploading thing down.

b/c md5's fingerprint the file, ffp's (and shntool md5's) fingerprint the wav data...

that is why, for instance, changing a tag changes the md5, but not the ffp. the change is in the header, but that is still part of the file, so the md5 changes.
