DPA4060>MMA600>MT2496 cable question
« on: October 26, 2005, 01:50:21 PM »
I still havent purchased any mics or pre/adc yet but I have a question on this setup
If I purchase the 4060s and go microdot into the MMA6000, what is the best input into the MT from the MMA?

I am confused as to whether I have to/need to use both 1/4 inputs or can I just use one with the L/M/H switch on L

I am assuming I should not use the 1/8 mic in even with the L/M/H switch on L.

...anyway, should the cable out of the 6000 be a mini-1/4 or should I use an 1/8-1/4 adapter on the end of the 3.5 mm Mini-jack or am I just making this more difficult than it has to be.

additionally, I would welcome any comments +/- on this setup.

I want to get a decent set of microminiature mics to alteast start recording, but I have contemplated the following gear:

DPA4060>MMA6000>MT2496
AKG391>ACM660 with a possible add-on of the CK97 caps for stealthing
Just say fuck the MT and get the PMD671 for later ACM from Oade. Then I would have to rethink my mic purchase based on power requirements.
I have been eating and sleeping this site for a couple weeks now and am still unsure on the mic situation if I get the 671.
My budget was 2k...now 3k.
I am all about the portability here, I wanna travel fast and light.

Thanks for any advice

Vince

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong- but you have to go from 1/8" out of the MMA6000 to two 1/4" TRS plugs for the MT.  I think the line ins are the TRS plugs.

Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

I picked up one of these:
http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/category.cgi?item=SP-MICROTRACK-MINI-TRS

I got a SP cable with male stereo 1/8" to dual mono 1/4" plugs, with a right-angle nutrik 1/8" that fits nicely into the MMA6000 with less stress than a straight 1/8".  This avoids one more connection which can come loose (and therefore will).

I had not seen these yet. This will solve my problem if I go with the DPA products.-Thank you very much.
