headphone issue (Sennheiser HD-600)
« on: February 22, 2008, 10:58:07 PM »
I have a problem in both sides of my HD-600. It seems like a loose connection somewhere. The sound drops out from time to time on one or both sides, usually when I move my head. How can I tell if the problem is with the headphones themselves or with the cable connection? Would an aftermarket (or just a replacement) cable help solve the problem?

Thanks,
Matt

The connection between the phones and the cable is prone to getting loose.
Did you try to re-seat it? The cords are removeable. I've got a pair 600's. I love them.

I haven't had the cord problem yet.

I've taken them out several times. I'm guessing the pins at the end of the cable are just every so slightly the wrong size and causing an intermittent connection. I ordered the HD650 replacement cable, so I'll see how that works.

Update:

The HD650 cable was just what the doctor ordered. Probably any replacement would have done. The HD650 cable is much beefier than the HD600 stock cable and made a good, firm connection into the sockets on the headphones. Back to the tunes!  ;D

That replacable cable is a great feature of those cans. Glad to hear they are working for you again.
