I followed your directions exactly, shows  not connected in my nomad explorer..does not reconize it for some reason.

ive spant hrs today on this and am quite pissy....and I thought all this was simple..gezzzz ::) ::)

It can be, but isn't always.  A few questions...

  • Connecting via USB or Firewire?
  • Are you using a known-good cable?
  • Are you using a known-good USB/Firewire port?
  • Have you tried re-booting?
  • Tried powering on/off the JB3?
  • Does Nomad Explorer provide any messages or tips when you try to connect?

Some similar threads found by searching for keywords JB3 can't connect - perhaps one will offer insight:

...

worse pat is on this coputer im not sure what sound card is in here. its an emachine my other was a gateway.I did have it woring on there before i lost the drivers for my soundcard

I have no Idea on how to fix it. ive got 6g in recording software in there. no audio,no volume contol in toolbar

The soundcard is a separate issue.  Installing the JB3 software should not have impacted your soundcard, so I suspect something else is going on there.  Try re-installing the soundcard drivers.

Every once in a while one of my jb3s gets finnicky. Sometimes I have to have it turned on and connected when I boot the computer, other times I have to boot the computer, then connect the jb3 which then powers on automatically, yet other times neither of those works and I have to power down the jb3 then manually turn it on for the comp to recognize it. The comp not recognizing the jb3 happens so infrequently that I haven't been able to see any pattern in when/why it isn't recognized and if there is a common step that gets it recognized. Sometimes I get frustrated (usually when attempting to transfer as soon as I get in from a show) and have learned to just shut everything off and try in the morning. So far that has worked first time, every time.

The above are always with USB since I have no firewire card/ports.

also,if I plug the jb3 into the pcu it does not directly open play center as it did on my other machine.

it makes a sound plugging in the usb but shows no connectivity at all

this really blows...I wanna go record tonight, with no transfer issues

next week ive got xmas jam and pre jam.I will need to be able to dump files.

oh im running windows xp

I have installed and uninstalled this nomad program 20 times, just does not work on my computer

the creative walk thru works.the player opened but didnt automatically upon entering the USB.I opened it manually and says no connectivity. even going thru the jukebox does the same.

Do you have access to another JB3? Just curious if your comp would recognize a different JB and if it does, you could transfer the file from one JB3 to the other, then transfer from the second JB3 to your comp.

Other than that, I can't offer any other suggestions.

anyone send me a copy of the install software ASAP.

It's already on TS, as noted before.  Try uninstalling -everything-, and then delete the folders in Windows Explorer (many installs do not actually perform this last step, so do it manually).  Edited to add:  Reboot.  Then try not installing all the other crud that comes with the JB3 and install just the driver and Nomad Explorer.  No PlayCenter, etc., etc.

Other than that, I'm at a loss - there's obviously something screwy  with either your PC config or JB3, or both.  If the above doesn't work, you need to try to isolate the problem to the JB3 or PC.  As flipp suggests, one way to do that is to try another JB3 with your PC, or another PC with your JB3.

You might also want to try connecting via firewire instead of USB.

You shouldn't need to spend any money.  Try a friend's computer, for example, over USB and / or firewire.

I'm also not clear whether you've actually tried my suggestion or not:

It's [the software is] already on TS, as noted before.

I keep reading about PlayCenter, and the Creative Walkthrough, etc.  Don't install any of that stuff.  Install only the driver and Nomad Explorer.  Perhaps there's a problem with all the other schlock you're installing in addition to just the driver and Nomad Explorer.  I don't know.  But we can't find out if you don't do precisely what we request and explicitly confirm that you've done it.  Maybe you already have, and if so I apologize, but it's simply not clear to me precisely what you've done and what you haven't.

Without very detailed information back from you about what precisely what you've tried (Like:  What version of the various software applications are you installing?  Which driver versions?  What version of firmware on the JB3?), how you tried it (did you uninstall and delete the old software first, or simply re-install on top of the old software), and what precisely happened (did the software install succeed?  or did it fail with a message?  does the PC present any messages or errors when trying to connect?, etc.) all we can do is repeat what's worked for us in the past without any sort of customized support.

I'm not necessarily saying we will have a customized solution for you based on detailed feedback, but without it we have no hope of helping further.
