accessories need for super clamp/extension stand pole.
« on: November 02, 2012, 03:15:44 PM »
I chopped off the bottom hardware of an old 7FT light stand in hopes to attach to a super clamp with some sort of stud(5/8) for club/theater taping. All have is the bottom of the aluminum pipe, maybe something that would slip over and tighten, any suggestions?

If you could find a way to crimp or otherwise secure one of the Manfrotto spigots/studs (like the 013 or 2972) into the bottom of your light stand that might work.  How EXACTLY to do that, I have no clue.

Just start from scratch and get a Lowel Full Pole and a Manfrotto Superclamp+5/8" Stud! I just bought that exact setup and IMO, its worth its weight in gold :)

Couple of options...you could drill and tap both pieces manfrotto spigot and pole then use set screws to attach.  Or, you could use one of the spigots and an industrial glue to permanently set the spigot.  However, it is probably cheapest to just buy a new pole like Bean said. :)

See if there is a piece of solid aluminum rod at a local lowes or home depot.  a piece severl inches long.  place/slip inside the base and tap from the side with a set screw or two.  at the very base drill and tap the center of the solid rod with a 3/8 thread for a super clamp or similar clamp and away you go...
