Title: class-compliant ADCs
Post by: jerryfreak on September 21, 2020, 05:43:57 AM
i.e. can record digitally to an iphone or ipad thru lightning. I'm excluding all-in-ones that already record internally, like the Zoom F6, where such a feature would be redundant

a short list of ones ive tested

dpa MMA-A d:vice
Benchmark ADC1 USB
RME ADI-2 Pro series
Mytek Brooklyn ADC
Motu M series (M2 and M4)

some others which fit the description which i havent tested personally
Sonosax SX-M2D2
RME babyface pro
Apogee Duet
Centrance Mixerface

Echo2 works on iPhone using camera connection kit.
Does need external power for p48.

The Zoom H5 can do ADC to an iOS device.
Although it can record internally as well but there's no need to do that.

Was about to pull the plug on a Sonosax SX-M2D2 back in March but balked when concerts started getting canceled. I would love to revisit that

pulled the trigger in the YS and I am already really digging this unit. I finally got the right cables for an iphone solution (i ordered the wrong one as apparently im unable to read properly)

We ran it last week for David Bromberg but went AES > spdif on the HDP2. I had Ted (Gakables) make me a bunch of custom cables for it.

was just testing the apogee metarecorder app and the m2d2 in the house just now. As soon as I powered on the m2d2 the app recognized it was getting usb audio from the device and it showed the device name as active etc

looking forward to trying the phone out on friday for Kung Fu. I will continue to run the hdp2 until i get comfortable with the app

Would you mind posting a picture of this setup? I'm interested to see how compact it is.

Its in my bag but these are pics I took prior. Its in the KILLER 3d printed cage that Liquid Meat was soooooo kind to make for me. The unit itself is a slight bit larger than a pack of smokes
