Title: ISO: USB Battery that is powered via AA batteries(Rechargeables) for Zune 30GB
Post by: F.O.Bean on September 22, 2008, 09:52:11 PM
I am interested in something that can power my Zune for EXTENDED periods of time without recharging my Zune thru the PC's USB port ??? Something like those things that power the MT's....I am interested in it RECHARGING my internal Zune battery, but also that allows EXTENDED runtimes w/ my Zune, and that can be powered via rechargeable AA's. Something like this, but that RECHARGES the Zune's internal battery, and not just supplying extra runtime WITHOUT recharging the Zune internal battery :) This Maxell has GREAT REVIEWS but you have to have a FULLY CHARGED internal Zune battery for it to work as promised and supply extended runtimes. It is practically USELESS if your Zune battery is DEAD, and thus, not doing me ANY GOOD on long road trips :P if I could find the EQUIVALENT of this, but one that RECHARGES the Zunes internal as well, then I would have found the "perfect solution" I guess :) ANY HELP is GREATLY APPRECIATED. I am sure I will eventually buy this anyway, just to hold me over until I find the "perfect solution", if even such a device exists at the present time :)

those work great with lithiums, ok with alkanines, and about 5-10 minutes with nimh's.

its got an internal circuit that shuts it off when battery voltage gets too low. since nimh's are already starting off about 1.2V, you dont get much runtime

if size isnt an issue, a tekkeon mp3450 would run and charge your zune forever

If you can find the USB version in store at Walgreen's, here is a $5 off $20 coupon -

I picked up one of these at Walmart for less then $10 last spring.  I found it in the digital camera section and it works with any 5v usb powered device.  I use it with my i-pod, iphone and h120 (with a special cable).  It's got a led power light, on/off switch and usb conection for power out (it does not recharge the AA batteries).  It powers and recharges my devices.  It's made by Digital Concepts and takes 4 AA batteries.

would a cigarette lighter>usb adapter work?

I bought a universal cell phone charger one time when I was in wv and the phone was dying, came with wall charger and 12v, both had female usb, then there was a usb on one end and all the cell phone things plugged into the other end of the cord.

so now I have a wall plug for usb, car charger for usb, and an extra cell phone charger.

got it at autozone for about 15 bucks
