since Ive had my UA-5 Ive used a juicebox to split the power from a 9v DVD batt to power motha UA-5 and a JB3. I no long need the juice box, so Id like to remove it from my gear bag. To go 9v DVD batt>UA-5 would I just need the proper adaptaplugs, cable, etc... or would I need to somehow switch the out out of the 9v DVD batt???
thanks!,

The polarity need to be reversed. If you have the adaptaplug where you just turn the tip to reverse polarity that is easiest. Other wise you need to cut the cable, reverse the wires and solder the wires back together.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean. Is this simply turing the adaptaplugs around (ie: - now lines up wth + instead of them matching like normal)? Also, does it need to be done on both ends?
-
one end only; if you reverse both ends you have the same polarity as what you started

ah, ok great. thanks guys! does it matter which end I reverse? Kinda nervous Im gonna fry my UA-5, but it seems pretty self explanitory...

Do you have a voltage meter? You can always confirm the polarity with one of those before you actually plug your battery into your UA5. I would love to be able to reverse the polarity in the UA5 but that is a mod a bit beyond my capabilities. Darn polarity is opposite every battery I have seen.

unfortunately I do not

There is a built in safety guard in the UA-5, you won't fry it if you hook it up wrong. Cable directions here: http://taperssection.com/index.php/topic,20671.0.html

awesome! thanks for the link. exactly what I needed. If for some reason i fuck shit up, Ill just blame it on the kitchen sink rack thats in my gear bag :P :P :P
-
just out of sheer curiosity, why is it needed to switch the tip on one side? Technically speaking, what exactly does that do?
-
reverses the polarity....look at the diagram on the back of the UA-5. the center is negative. The DVD 9V out center is positive. When you make the switch somewhere along the cable (adaptaplug: + with - or cabling: striped with non-striped), the polarity at the end of the cable will be reversed relative to the start of the cable.

All the adapataplugs I have have Tip written on them and then on the chord it has + on one side and - on the other so that if the end going into the battery has Tip as +, on the other end if you have Tip and - lined up together you get a Tip with - polarity.
