Title: anyone familiar with the sennheiser k6 system?
Post by: Jimna on January 08, 2004, 10:13:16 PM
i just got my new sennheiser k6 bodys w/ the me 64 caps to get me started.  these are the first real mics ive ever owned, and any advice would be gladly takin in.   i have been taping now for about 3 yrs w/ a sony stereo mic, but it requires no skills to operate.   i got the small caps first so could use them in a bar type venue first, but plan to have the me 66's soon.(atleast before the summer concert season hits)  any hints???

I've never run these mics but....as for the 64 caps search around this site for info on mics configs etc for card caps...there may be a thing or two on that ;).

The 66 caps are short shotguns so pretty much "point and shoot" with those.  I'd say most people running guns just aim each mic at the outside edge of each stack.

If you plan on taping outside with the 66s I'd be wary of any kind of wind.  You may try running the 64s wide first as you may like the results.   My best advice (since Skalinder didn't get to say it yet :P) is search the site...there's a ton of info here!

what do you mean run them (me 64's) wide?  my reasoning on the 66's was for distance such as an ampitheater, and its my understanding that the 64's are for close proximity recording.
