Title: AC cable help desperately needed
Post by: Teen Wolf Blitzer on April 29, 2009, 02:15:53 PM
Ok I'm going nuts.  Have been looking for a week.  No luck.  Seeking out ac power cables with a right angle.  Like this...

But I want the cable to exit the opposite side.  It seems they don't make them?  I can't fathom that is the case.  Any ideas?  Please!!!

Have you tried bettercables.com?  They may be able to help you out.  Drew at Moon Audio (www.moon-audio.com) can also probably build something for you, but he may not be cheap.

I have not.  I'll check em out.  I'd really not like to have something made.  These are for my tube power supplies so they will run verically in my bag with no cable strain.  Here's hoping I find something.  It's so strange that every cabe I look at is the same direction.  Thanks.

Search using Google for "IEC Left Angle" and you'll find what you need.

edit:  more specifically, look for "IEC 60320 C13" and you want the C13L.

Thanks.  Well I found this..

But it doesn't give any specifics.  The stock cable I have says 10 amp 125 volt.  I sent them an email.  Hope this works out.   ;D

It's 18AWG wire.  You'll be fine.  Thats pretty standard cable.  1200W is a lot of power and I doubt your pre-amps draw that.  It should be marked on the rear panel near the IEC connector.

Well now I'm excited.   :-*  Thanks for your help.  I knew something must have been up.  Search left angle?  hmmmm   Who knew?

EDIT:  They got back to me.  The cables are 10 amp 125V!!!  Sweet.  They are on their way.  Thanks again Lil' Kim.

Is it possible to rotate the female socket inside the case? A lot of these are screwed in and have enough free cable inside the case to allow it.

I have two 2m HYDRA power cables in stock.
hospital grade 3prong male, right angle (vertical, not horizontal).
they are very nice, 12awg conductors.
PM me if interested...., I'll sell em both cheap.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.  I thought about taking the supplies apart and rotating them but figured I'd look for the correct angled cords first.  And I found em.
Wish I had known you had those Nick.  Might have taken you up on them.
