Title: YouTube > DVD ?
Post by: Chilly Brioschi on August 15, 2011, 10:23:44 AM
A colleague has posted a few dozen YouTube and MP4 videos that I need to gather into a DVD for archiving and presentations from the road.
She says that she doesn't have a easy access to the source files (think tape back-up restores and reworking stuff from six months ago).
I have her permission to do whatever I need to get this done.

What is the easiest way to D/L and save these?

I have some real-time recording programs, but was hoping that I could transcode for speed and quality.
I have full access to her YouTube (google.com) account, if that makes a difference.

Google youtube downloader and you'll get lots of options.

You can redownload them from her Youtube account. If you go to her account page (while logged in as her), then "My Account and Playlists" and click on "Uploaded," you have the option to "Download MP4" from the little drop down menu on the right of the "insight" button for each video.

If found that the absolute easiest way is to use an extension for Firefox called Easy YouTube Video Downloader.  It's in Firefox's top 25 all-time downloads, is very reputable AND FREE.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/easy-youtube-video-downl-10137/

Basically what it does is give you a drop down menu on each video right next to the 'Like' , 'Add to' , 'Share' buttons right below the video.

This allows you to see and select whatever quality/format is available and which you'd prefer to download.

They update it it fairly regularly and I use it all the time.  I believe they may have a Chrome extension as well but am not positive.

Thanks!

I got them from her account, but it's good to know that there are options.
