Title: Speaker wire solder recommendations?
Post by: Burnt on October 06, 2005, 01:03:46 PM
Just wondering what type of solder I should use on speaker cables.  As far as I can tell searching around the silver solder would be my best bet, but since I don't know much about the different kinds I figured I'd ask around here.
Thanks

A solution that does not use solder would be best.

Don't you need to "tin" the ends of the bare wire though?  ???

I never have.
Most of the speaker cables I see are solderless.

I didn't know that.  All the speaker cables that I have ever got had the bare ends tinned.  That will save me the trouble  then if I don't need to do that.
Thanks for the response.   ;D

If you are just using speakers that require bare wire ends, then there is no need for solder...

But almost any professional speaker cable that has a connector on the end, has been soldered on.
