and I see B&H also has some used 12" and 18" extensions. If I got an 18" extension I could probably use this stand in the section or FOB/onstage.

If you're going to go that route - a good one, IMO - consider getting a gooseneck extension, and get a clamp as well.  I clamp all the time and the gooseneck gives you a lot of flexibility to adjust your mics if you're clamped to something at an odd angle, etc.

I'm pretty sure if you extend the legs all the way on the 3733 you can get 7+ feet. I have one and I'm almost 6' and if I extend the legs all the way its a good foot and half to 2 feet above my head.

And if you use small mics or just the caps you don't have to worry about it falling over.
