Valence NCharge: 2 5 hours, or one ten?
« on: December 20, 2004, 12:30:39 AM »
Don't you just love my questions?
Ok...this one may be stupid, but I'd like more opinions. To power my laptop and 410, I was going to get a Valence.
For the same price I could get 1 10 hr version or 2 5 hrs. Which would be better? 1 10, I'd never have to even think
of running out of power, but 2 5's and I'd have a back up in case things go wrong. Plus the internal laptop battery.
Does the Valence tell you when it's dead? Or do you have to just check to see the laptop's battery isn't draining?
Thanks again for the help!

So you think two five hours would be best?
Just watch the meter and hot-swap if needed?

Are you talking about the N-Charge I or the N-Charge II? The II only has 3 leds for the power meter.

I have 2 10 hour valences. I would highly suggest AGAINST running your laptop and other device off the same N-Charge. I have tested running 2 things off the same battery 1 from the high power port and 1 from the low power port and It caused MAJOR interference.

I would use the valanece for just the Laptop.

Now wether it is better to have 1 vs. 2 batteries. Well the only time this will ever really be a consideration is a Festival. I did 1 fest w/ 2 and 1 w/ 1. I have to say the ability to charge 1 battery while using the other came in real handy for running the laptop all day with out stopping.

having said the above the 10hour batteries only yield about 31/2 to 4hours each on my laptop so rotating them is necessary to do the festival all day event. I run both valences and I have 2 internal batteries so Power isn't something I concern myself with too much now but.... You can never have too much juice imho also the valences add a good amount of weight.
