I have a retired taper from Denver sending me 20 of his dats to transfer and send back to him.  He said his rig was:

B&K shotguns > Lunatec v2 >Tascam DA-P1

What is the model designation for the B&K shotguns?  All of these shows were recorded in the early > mid '90s.

He is a very busy man who isn't at the computer often, so correspondence between us is spotty, that's why I'm asking y'all.

Thanks -
Tim

FWIW, just to add to the confusion, the V2 wasn't introduced until '98....

Right now nothing...in the past: Schoeps CMC6, AKG 480, AKG 460, AKG 414, MBHO 603a, Neumann KM100, ADK TL>Schoeps MK4, Schoeps MK2, Schoeps MK41, AKG ck61, AKG ck62, AKG ck63, Neumann AK40, Neumann AK50, MBHO ka200>Lunatec V2, Lunatec V3, Apogee Mini-Me, Oade M148, Oade M248, Sound Devices MP2, Sonosax SXM2>Sony (mod)SBM1, Apogee AD500>D7, D8, D100, M1, R1, R4, R09, iRiver HP120, Microtrack

So my DPA 4011's come with their custom polar patterns and response chart from the factor. The response chart goes all the way to 20HZ and shows the response being ever so slightly below the -2 db line. So JasonSobel's post was right on the money. It would appear though that the <40Hz response doesn't degrade very much. From looking at my charts my 4011's are 20Hz-20KHz +/- 2.2 dB.

I talked to my friend who said the model number is Bruel & Kjaer 4401.  Anyone ever heard of them?  I haven't had any luck with a google search.

they claim they won't make a hyper because the more directional you get, the more unnatural the sound is (and dpa loves the natural/transparent sound)

so one would think they never had a shotgun

(i don't know of them ever making one, either)

me too beaner, this is kind of frustrating b/c he doesn't have the mics anymore.................

given the time frame I would think these have to be 4011's. One could imagine that it might be easy to confuse 4011 and 4401, just double up on the wrong number.  :P
You might want to ask him what they looked like? If they are long full body mics they would probably be 4011's, I would also guess that they would either be cardioid or omnis since I don't think B&K made subcards back then, you might be able to tell what the pattern was from listening to the tapes...
