I tried to get my rig (NJB3) into Grabage/The Start the other night.  There was only one line into the place.  There were no wands, but the pat downs were fearsome at this venue.  Needless to say, the rig did not make it in (but the show was great! :))  I am now looking for something small.  It's gotta do at least 44.1 wav and no short limits on record time (it needs to do a full 2+ hour show w/o resetting it or replacing batteries).  The ability to quickly replace batteries would be cool too.  I am thinking 4gb Ipod size, but no flacshing and screwing around with factory stuff and voiding warranties.  There are soo many new mp3 players/recorders/so on/so forth out now, that I cannot begin to keep track of them or their features.  Does such a beast exist?  Any reccomedations are super appreciated.  Thanks!

Did you have everything hidden when you got patted down?  If the JB3 was just in your coat pocket hooked up to headphones would it have made it inside?
