Topic: quick JB3 questions...

My buddy just got a JB3 and asked me what cables and whatnot he'd need to be able to patch at shows. Can someone give me a quick rundown of what he needs to plan on buying? I assume a 7 pin > optical would be handy for coming out of sony portables. What else?

He needs a grey box coaxial->optical convertor to ensure a patch.  It just so happens I have one I don't use that could be easily his!

I'd just get an optical with mini on one side. & a C02 for the spdif's

One note on the grey boxes - that's what Jamie Lutch tested and had trouble with.  If you can't get a direct optical feed, he might consider an analog patch - I guess it's a tradeoff between the better a>d and potential glitches from the grey box.

Maybe there are better grey boxes - test, test, test!  It could also depend which device is feeding the grey box.

Well I used the gerybox about 20 times as dat backup into my jb3 when I had it with no problems.  Bit accuracy isn't that important to me though as I couldn't give a hoot if it sounds ok without glitches...which it did.
