Get ready....
Since our FireWire "stack" is all new in the upcoming 2.0 release (with a complete rewrite of the 40,000+ lines of C code just for FireWire...), we will be getting to 2.0 in a couple of steps.
We will first be posting a new 1.XX beta release which will include the new FireWire code withOUT host mode. This will essentially give you the identical functionality of the present 1.74 release with the added benefit of both CF and HD access (722 aand 744T), plus a healthy speed increase. We will open this release up to any user that wants to try it. We are quite confident in it, but it won't be an "official" release. We'll also keep the present 1.74 release available. We believe this will eliminate the lingering connectivity issues we are seeing in Win OS. I won't quote a specific date on this first step to 2.0, but it will be very soon.
As far as the 2.0 release, we are heavily testing this code to assure its completeness and stability. The 2.0 release includes the control for the CL-1 remote control. We have CL-1's built and ready to go, but they ultimately depend on this release for their operation. We will also first publish the 2.0 as a public beta for the brave to wring out. We have lots of very knowledgeable users here that can identify things we simply didn't consider. We'll make certain to let you all know when these releases are available.
If you have registered your recorder, you will receive an email when new firmware releases are available. If you don't think you have registered, go to our site and drop us your serial number and contact information - http://www.sounddevices.com/register
AWESOME
whered you get that info at martin?
so firewire speeds will be increased on the beta mirroring the 1.74 release? thats killer as well
i have no need for the HD mirroring cause 40GB is plenty of storage for me at the moment
but it is a sweet feature
