The company (BSWA) makes measurement mics, and are taking a nice step into audio gear.

I don't know the quality of the caps, I'm looking to get a 1/2" Nickel (electret) capsule to play with.  These are worth looking out for.  From the docs they seem to have Ni capsules (n series?), gold plated mylar (e, g?), and unspecificed (m).

I'm intrigued by their cardioid capsules as well...

Looks like a DPA "China copy" which is not the same as a DPA clone.  I am interested in seeing how well they fare.  As they have imitated the shape of DPA they are now forced to be compared to DPA.  That can be difficult.

looks like DPA capsule grid/vent patterns combined with earthworks/violet/jz-style bodies; wonder how they sound?

They're copying *completely* the DPA body design (ph48 adapter for 1/2" capsule).  The other caps, 1" or 1/4" are put on with adapters I think.

They are *not* clones - they are *copies* - and likely very low quality in comparison to the original.

I hope they put more effort into making their mics than they did with their website.
Can't read half of the text because of misplaced pictures covering it. :P

They are crap dont waste your time. And yes I have checked them out as have a few of my other friends in the mic business they look like DPA mics but I can shape a turd into a DPA mic it does not mean it will sound like one :) Remember you may wish for an apple or an orange but you will only get a peach :)

Yep ask your self one question.. If they have been in business for 10 years why dont they have a distributor in the US or Canada? makes me think they tried and failed to find one a I know for a fact that approached a few of my friends in the business to distribute them and when samples were sent they were all severely lacking in quality.

I think the prices are too high as well.  The metal (Ni) diaphragm capsules range from $200-600.  Compare to Japanese capsules (ACO-PACIFIC) at $600 or DPA for $1000 or more.  Their other capsules are polymer, something like $50-100 (not sure whether gold or other coating).  I may ask for a sample pair of the polymer ones, though.  You never know, but at $100 each, it might be a viable option for binaural/htrf recording.  I'm always looking for better capsules.  Right now I'm using the Countryman B3 at approx $150 (pigtail) or $200 (XLR).

Bump...

Copy or not, I wouldn't mind giving these guys a run.  A lot of interesting stuff (audio-wise) has been coming out of China in the last 5 years or so.  Their website appears to have improved.  The specs look alright for their compact cardioid and omni.  3-pin XLR / P48, although it doesn't look like it detaches from the capsule itself.

Am I missing something, or is a pair of those "N" series compact cards about the same price as a used set of the real DPA 402x?  At those prices they'd better be darn close to the DPA originals they're copying, considering you could have new AKGs or Neumanns for the same or less.

The pricelist a few posts up ^^^ attached to Church's post.  They now have a US distributor who I emailed about the compact microphone prices, which do not seem to be on the list.

so in a nutshell, I wasn't impressed with the sound or the specs. apparently the spl rating was not what was stated. This was an issue for me for onstage recordings. Even with running a -20db pad the and zero gain the mic was still overloading. Never used them on quiet sources, but for the money I would just look at getting the modular dpa microhpones.
