New iRiver h120 battery
« on: December 16, 2010, 12:31:47 AM »
Hi,
I'm about to buy a new battery for my h120. I just need to know whether or not this is the right one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2300mAh-Battery-iRiver-H110-H120-H140-H340-TOOLS-/130463775667?pt=Other_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item1e603f3bb3
Can't make out if this is a 'Sino' or 'CameronSino' (as mentioned in one of the posts here). Should it be? How important is this.

Just need to know for sure that I'm buying the correct battery.
Thanks!

I'm not sure.
I've got a H320, which uses the same kind of batteries and I bought:
http://cgi.ebay.ph/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200323445811

And this one was works perfectly.

There are batteries with inverted polarity. You have to be absolutely sure that the polarity is okay. Be absolutely sure that the red wire (positive) goes to the same pin on the pcb. If not, flip the connector.

If you have to remove the harddisk in order to  from the player (which is the case when replaciing the battery in the H3x00, don't make the mistake to  put the harddisk upside down. This will nuke the disk and you have to buy a knew one.

Any other thoughts on this? I need to be sure I'm buying the right thing because I'm buying from India so it'll be very painful for me if I end up buying the wrong battery. There are a bunch of batteries available here: http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=iriver+h120+battery&_sacat=See-All-Categories
Could someone point out my best option please?
Thanks!

Srijan, take a look at  the link ploffer sent.
In his picture, you can see the Cameron Sino logo (CS) in the bottom left corner of the battery.
Those are the ones to look for.
Of course you can grab any ebay battery marketed for Iriver hxx0, the polarity should be fine. But anecdotal evidence tells that performance is inferior, and some batteries suffer from swelling.

The first major Ebay seller who supplied the CS was Lickety Split Auctions:
http://www.licketysplit.ca/

He doesn't have any batteries out now (away for Christmas?), but drop him a line and ask for a deal off-ebay.

Thank you! I found a Cameron Sino Battery here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200323445811&fromMakeTrack=true
The seller is top-rated and is in Hong Kong so he'll ship to india for $5 . I think I'm going to go ahead with the purchase.
Thanks all!

Thanks all!

I got my battery from that same seller. He ships fast and well packaged.

Don't forget to change rockbox battery settings according to the capacity of the new battery, in order to get the battery indicator working fine. Since I've got this battery in my iRiver I start recording when I anter a venue and stop it after the show. And then the battery is still at about 90% of its capacity :-)

Good luck!
