Can anyone confirm that the optical digital input is bit perfect on the macbook?
I am hoping to occasionally run optical from my V3 @ 24/96 to Spark XL on the macbook. I did some testing and it appears to work, but I wanted to see if others knew more about this, thanks!

i just remember reading somewhere that the ins and outs are bit perfect... sorry don't have a link
if you want to take this a step further than hearsay, i'd recommend setting up and md5 checksum somehow.

Can any sample rate / bit depth be carried via an optical connection?
Basically, can the macbooks accept 24/96 signals thru optical?

any bit depths and frequency rates that might be available will be listed in the audio MIDI setup window, properties for: built in audio, source: optical input... the format and bit-depths should be available under source. Choose whatever suits you. I'm stuck on an ibook so i can't say what is available to you, but my built-in mic has settings for 48, 44.1, and 32, with 24 or 16 bits.

Great, thanks!
