Topic: Questions on Fostex PD4

I just purchased one of these units for transfers from Doug, a member in Seattle. The headphone/ internal speaker has a loud beep that comes every other second, does not come through the aux. outputs. Also it seems that some dats (maybe 1/3rd) will not show levels or playback sound, it's like there is nothing there. But when played back on a sony TCD D100 everything plays back just fine. The sony is the only machine I have that is consistent in playback, and it's a tiny portable! I love the transport on the fostex, it seems really solid. I hope I can get more consistent playbacks with it.

Update, unit plays back all tapes so far, it will not output signal to meters or output plugs unless proper freq. is selected on deck. It will play, so I was confused. (a normal state sometimes)A rock solid deck so far, a rare thing these days.  Any other users who have familiarity with this unit let me know. Bob
