I was running the 12 volt lead acid bricks before I switched to the Sound Devices recorders.

I had my v-2 on an Li dvd battery with great success, but never needed a 12 volt before.

I'm satisfied with the older BatteryGeeks 10-14-88* for running my FR2 (P48, no external pre). I get longer runtimes with the BG/FR2 than I do running my FR2LE (also P48 no external pre) with either everyone's favorite DVD batt or a Tekkeon 3450. I've run the BG 7 hours continuous and only been down one light (of four). Never run the LE that long but both the DVD and Tekkeon have gone over 4 hours with no more than half the lights out.

* newer model is a 10-14-115 (I think)

I run it a lot of different way.  Preamps in front of it, phantom on, just line level.  And I have a varisty if DVD capacities, 5400mAh, 6000mAh, 8000mAh, 10000mAh.  But even with the 5400mAh it will do a entire show of two long sets with no problems.  A lot of times I am running multiple gear off a battery with hot swap ability.  I NEVER depend on a single battery I cant really say run times are.

i know you asked for NON SWITCHING, but i really like the Battery Geeks 9-12-66 (http://www.thebatterygeeks.com/BG-9-12-66-Portable-DVD-Player-Battery-p/9-12-66.htm).  i use it to power my R-44, and have no issues using it at the 9v or the 12v setting.

I just ordered a 12V L-Ion batt pack off Ebay which is not a switching design afaik(its fixed at 12V):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-12V-Portable-9800mAh-6800mAh-Rechargeable-Li-on-battery-Pack-AC-Charger-/281047124584?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item416fb6ca68

9800 mah version was $34 shipped.
As a bonus(to me) it has the correct connector size required by a Tascam DR-680.

I'll report back when I get it and try it out a few times.

I had tried a similiar version of these.  Found the on/off switch too easy to hit.  There was also some reports of battery selfnoise on recordings.  Very .ow andunder what most mics self noise was, but still there.  I also had it doe at about 1 year old with no warning. And I didn't feel it lived up to that mAh rating.  There was alos the issue of no charge level meters so you don't know how much life you have left.  All in all I wouldn't buy another one, just didn't cut it.

I just bought this used from "Big Perm" . It is a bit overkill, but he say's it could power his SD 788t for 15-16 hours. I wouldn't pay the full price, but I think I got a good deal. It won't be in my bag all the time, but when I need power for an extended time, I will be good.  ;D
