Title: Modify smartphones for loud bass heavy concert show audio in video
Post by: Kevin T on October 22, 2015, 11:30:04 PM
ive tried covering the mic with
Tape
Dead cat fir
Tyvek
Foam
Modeling clay

With 110 -11O dB spl EDM low bass I got extreme mic mechanical clipping distortion. only the clay 1/4 thick over the meme mic entrance whole stopped it.

I need a high pass acoustic attenuators filter . Ideas ?

Also, the physical SPLs may cause the mic to distort regardless of the use of a high-pass filter.

Related: What good is EDM without the bass? It seems to me you need an external mic that can handle these sound pressure levels.

A phone is just a phone.  Its meant for talking not recording loud music.
