Got my Neumann u89i's in early 2000.

If you want to here some old fantastic sounding mics try this 2002 Kimock show:

http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=1679

Vintage Neumann's onstage. Apparently they're from about 1959/1960. This is the way that Neumann's and IMHO all audience recordings should sound.

And some mic pics:

i remember when the challeneger blew up, i was a year away from starting kindefgarten and was in my basement watching tv w/ my mom, and BAM, news flash :'(

Yeah I think I was in first grade.  I still remember a rumor about one of the 2nd grade teachers being in the astronaut program and almost being on the challenger, but failing some test at the last minute.  Damn, first and second graders are so stupid :P

I was skipping school too!  85-86 was the year I attended a french-speaking high school in Chicoutimi, Quebec.  I had bailed after my 1st class to go hang out with some other americans I knew...

I believe that was Christa McAuliffe and she was on the Challenger when it blew up. She was supposed to teach from space.

My C34 is pretty old, I haven't been able to pin it down though. We think it's from the 70's or so.
I know you like, tape for people's approval and stuff, and wave your tapes around like they're your dick...  but even you can't actually think section tapes from philips sound good.
