Title: 722 Battery Charger
Post by: hoyt on August 27, 2007, 02:20:52 PM
The power cord on my 722 appears to have developed a short in it.  I use this as my battery charger too.  I have 4 shows in the next week, so I need to grab a quick battery charger locally.  I looked at Best Buy and Circuit City's websites but didn't see anything specific to the NP-F960 battery.

Are all chargers that work for Sony NP* batteries going to work on the NP-F960 as well?  Thanks,

I ordered this dual charger from B&H:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/73076-REG/Sony_BCV500_BCV_500_Portable_Dual_AC.html (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/73076-REG/Sony_BCV500_BCV_500_Portable_Dual_AC.html)

they have it in stock. i find that B&H shipping is REALLY fast. if you are located in the NE you should recieve it in a day or two.

B&H is pretty quick, but I'm in the midwest, and leaving on Wednesday.  It's possible that I could have that shipped somewhere where I'll be though.

you might make out better checking a place like Ritz Camera if there is a store close to you

I had checked their website and didn't see anything that indicated they had L series in store, but I just called the large one around here and they have one.  Phew!  Not the best deal, but if it puts power in a battery then I'm good to go!  Thanks,

maybe you can get Sound Devices to send you a new power cord? I believe they are in WI so it shouldn't be too long to the midwest (i realize you would need it overnighted at this point)

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll be contacting them about getting a new one soon, but now I don't have to rush the shipment.

Has this happened to anyone else?  I just talked to a fellow taper at a show tonight, and the same exact thing happened to his charger this week too.  Wondering if the charger cable is just really cheap...

maybe you can send yours off to one of the TS cable gurus to check out or perhaps SD would replace it for you as defective.

how old is your 722?

Too late, but for the future: I charge my SD772 batteries on the venerable TRV900 camcorder... Maybe some friend of yours has a Sony videocam.

Actually, they did replace it, and with that exact one.  It seems a whole lot heftier than the OEM one.
