Title: AKG ck63 vs. Sennheiser MKE2 Gold comp.
Post by: beatkilla on April 14, 2019, 07:56:00 PM
Ok so last night i ran both of these into a Tascam DR-2d.Hypers vs. Omnis Not really a good comp but this is what i planned to use so for this show.

The lineage was AKG ck63>Nbobs>Baby Nbox>Tascam DR-2d MIC IN 24/48
                    and Sennheiser MKE2 Gold>Church Battery Box>Tascam DR-2d LINE IN 24/48

These both are raw with no eq or anything other than gain applied in post.Link good for 7 days.

Which do you prefer and why?

Headphones as well (Sony MDR-V6).
Prefer the AKG.  Better response, flatter frequencies, overall better tone.
The MKE2 does have a nice warm tone though, I would not shy away from listening to the entire recording if that was the main mic.
A touch of EQ would make that shine, but its not overly harsh by any stretch.
Sounds (to my ears) like a hell of a little omni!

Both sound good to me.For PA recording, both sound pretty good.
Would like to hear acoustic/ jazz/ classical recordings with these.
This bodes well for all the MKE2 Elements that have been recently acquired in the section LOL.

These both do sound good. I do prefer the AKG's but I'm really impressed with the MK2's to sound that good being such a small mic. I'd be happy with either recording but I prefer that hyper sound. Thanks for sharing !!!!
