Milab! I can still help out...
« on: April 19, 2009, 04:15:40 PM »
Hi there,

Seems like some people have tried pretty hard to get messages to me the last year or so.
It´s been a very tough year for me on a personal basis but now I´m back again.

So the deal is the same, let me know what you need and I´ll help out.
The Milabs are pretty damn good for the money, AND built completely by hand to order here in Sweden.
Given the 20% raise of the USD to the Krona the prices are a lot better than last year too...

Anyone interested pm me, or just shout very loud. But pm first please.
And if anyone could give me some US retail pricing I´d be happy as a mating salmon.

Cheers,
Thomas

Don't want to step on any toes here, but I hear that Milab has apparently just arranged for a new US distributor and they will be much more widely available in the US at very good prices in the very near future from dealers, along with some special perks for US customers (such as free matching, stereo set pricing, etc).

Don't ask me how I know this... ;D

^^^^^ Let me guess!   Great news.  I understand from what I have read that these Milabs are stellar mics and deserve a wider user base here than they have.  Whoever gets this line - hmmmmph - is getting what promises to be a great line of gear to distribute.  Now if I can just get someone to buy a dog or two off me, or an old beat up Dodge diesel truck . . .

Has this source leaked any idea of what the prices for these mics would be, like an approximate range??  I have been tempted in the past, and really do not need another pair of mics, but the DC-196 has a good rep with the folks in Europe, as do the other mics.  And the surround mic is also supposed to be quite nice.  I will have to see what  rolls out.  I am sure interested.

Keep us in the loop, Dirk, as you get news from your source.

Cheers

I have not been made aware of any pricing as of yet, but I'm sure that will be available in fairly short order.

I am broke - auto accident and home repairs - but I am sitting by the phone for this one.  I have only read good things about Milab.

Not sure I totally understand this thread
back in November 2008 3 US dealers were chosen:
Quote
2008-11-03 Milab back in the U.S.

For some time Milab microphones have been difficult to obtain in the U.S. But now we have appointed three authorized dealers who will be able to provide american customers with Milab's full range of microphones and accessories.

The dealers are:

Full Compass
www.fullcompass.com

Instrument Pro
www.instrumentpro.com

MIDI Classics
www.midi-classics.com

http://www.milabmic.com/distributors.asp?region=n_america

Full Compass has the best pricing around - that's where I got mine from

Those are dealers.  There was no authorized distributor which is why Milabs are not so easy to come by in the U.S..  That will change soon.

Full Compass has the best pricing around

Not for long.   >:D

I agree, it is great news about Milab having a US distributor.

Dirk -- maybe you can start your own thread on this?  It just seems a bit inappropriate to take over brn2rn's thread with talk about a different way of getting Milabs instead of going thru brn2rn when it was his thread.

For the record, brn2rn/Thomas was excellent in getting me my pair of Milabs a couple years ago when they were very hard to get in the US.  For a very good price at the time, too.  I'm not sure with the new US Milab dealer network and upcoming US distributorship that he will be able to compete, but it might be worth dropping him a line.
Mics: Microtech Gefell m20/m21 (nbob/pfa actives), Line Audio CM3, Church CA-11 cards
Preamp:  none <sniff>
Recorders:  Sound Devices MixPre-6, Sony PCM-M10, Zoom H4nPro
