My pre shipped back to Trew Audio today.  Trew will be shipping to Sonosax for repair and then arrange shipping back to me.

The download link is located in the accessories section at the Sonosax website:  https://www.sonosax.ch/product/sx-m2d2/

DIY 3D files for SX-M2D2 Mounting accessory:

Sonosax provides these files for you to to play with and 3D print.

Slide your SX-M2D2 into this box, protective case, mounting accessory, whatever you like to call it. Hot shoe fixing slides allow you to attach it to a camera. You may also slide it into your sound bag. The connectors are protected and the cables come out elegantly on the side.

Feel free to modify the original file according to your needs and ideas. And if you do, send us your photos, the most beautiful ones will be published on the sonosax.ch website.

In this .zip file: DIY_MOUNTING_ACC  you will find:

SX-M2D2_FRAME.SLDPRT (Solidworks 2015 or later 3D file)
SX-M2D2_FRAME.STEP (Exchange 3D file)
SX-M2D2_FRAME.STL (3D printer file)
Note: Sonosax does not provide this accessory in physical form. Only files for 3D printing are available.

You may be able to send this to Shapeways and get them to produce it for you if you don't have access to a 3D printer with durable enough materials.

We have a cool "Makespace" in my town that has all sorts of gadgets that you can play with if you pony up for an annual membership. I should do it this year for stuff like this. I want to take a couple of AutoCAD classes and do things on my own.

You are correct.  One of the JWSoundgroup users, Patrick Tresch, did send this to Shapeways for printing.  I think that this is actually Patrick's design.

I don't have my unit with me at the moment (see above) but am I right in assuming that the USB driver root folder is on the M2D2 itself, and that once the files are moved to that directory, turning the machine on takes care of the update?

A question about the SX-M2D2 dynamic range. I read that the SX-R4+ dynamic range of 135dB is limited in the USA version to 114dB because of patent issues. Is the SX-M2D2 also limited in the US version?

EDIT: Got the answer to this question: No, it is not limited.

The SX-R4+ is limited as shipped, because of the Zaxcom patent, but the 135dB range is restored via a software update via the sonosax website. In other words, the limited range is a legal fiction.

I don't know if there is a similar issue with the SX-M2D2's dynamic range. But if there is, it is a non issue, solved in minutes by anyone with an internet connected computer.

Sonosax does not limit the dynamic range on non-recorder devices such as the M2D2 or AD8+.
The patent only applies to a Recorder.
