Toslink replacement for UA-5 (mod for dmic-20)
« on: November 21, 2006, 11:05:34 PM »
Hello,
does anyone know where to buy the toslink output peice for the UA-5.  Mine is screwed up and needs to be replaced.  Looks like a "simple" solder job but I can't find the part number anywhere and digikey.com does not have pictures of thier products  >:(

I also want to "opti-mod" the DMIC-20

Thanks for any help.

Found it.

Also found the replacement optical out for the JB3 incase anyone has a broken one.   Since this has all of the pins explained...It shouldn't be that hard to go SPDIF - RCA in to the JB3??

I'm confused.  I get the first post about replacing the UA5 toslink output connector.  But...

The JB3 doesn't have an optical output.  Are you also trying to replace the JB3 mini optical S/PDIF input?  Or change it to coax RCA S/PDIF? Or...something else?

yeah.... typo.  I meant optical input to JB3.  I'm not actually doing anything with the JB3 I just found that part for it incase anyone was looking for one.
The optical to RCA on the JB3 was just a passing thought to elimate the use of optical cables to transfer the digital signal.  After many cable movement clicks etc... I personally hate optical in the field.  Just a thought.

thats a pretty cool thought...
If i had any skills at all with a soldering iron... or building electronics. I'd look for another jb3 so as to create the first coax-mod jb3.

I suspect that the easiest only way to do this mod would be to eliminate the analog line-in.
