XLR to rca mini pin assignment?
« on: September 19, 2007, 11:40:29 AM »
Hello team cables.....

I want to make one of these...

What would the pin assignment be?  Pin #2 to the rca mini pins?
Number 3 to the ground?

thanks in advance for help.

stereo 3.5mm

tip = pin2 of the left channel
ring = pin2 of the right channel
sleeve =  ground

pins 1&3 on the XLRs will grounded as only pin 2 is actually carrying signal.
same thing as Moke said above really, just worded differently.
:-)

XLR's:
input = pins 1&2 ground jumped together & pin 3 hot

Shouldn't that be 1&3 together and pin 2 hot?

god i hope not,....
I took that from the Grace V3 manual pin assigment diagram, from page 6 of the manual.
And the manual is showing pin 3 hot, and 1 & 2 jumped.

its showing 3 hot
and 1&2 as an open ended shield - ground.

There are no standards for pin 2-3 assignments for audio gear when it relates to audio output. Only mic input is a world wide standard of PIN 2 hot and that is because of phantom power. When you dont know what the pin config is you have to consult the manual. Or call the manufacturer. Thats why its always better to check the manual like Moke did.

i think i have seen that hand before  ???  ;)

what are you running out of?  the mp2 into the r-09?  if so.this is from the manual. on page 4...so the same way i made mine.

pin 2= hot pin3 = cold pin 1 = grounded.  pin 3 can be grounded or ungrounded to drive unbalanced inputs.

I'm just trying to build something similar and found the attached schematic... can somebody tell me what that thing inside the red border with the two loops and the dashed connection lines is?
