I think this is part of the reason many people haven't purchased their CD-Wave license (and one of the reasons I started this thread):  misunderstanding of the license requirements.  Purchasing a license if using the program beyond the 31-day trial period is not voluntary - it's compulsory to satisfy the terms of the license.  The author simply chose not to implement software mechanisms (like crippling the software after 31-days, or providing a limited-functionality demo) to compel people to purchase the license.  Nonetheless, users are obligated to purchase the license if they continue to use the software beyond the trial period.

I've not used the feature, but it looks like THE Rename allows editing and exporting of various tags (MP3, OGG, WAV, etc.).  I simply use it for batch renaming and attribute changing of the files themselves, though - never tried the tag features.

That's because MD5 Summer puts a ridiculous line at the top of each MD5 that reads "Created by MD5 Summer", and then skips a line before the actual MD5 contents...leading to MKW, xACT, etc. giving you an error message everytime.

There is no auto-recovery integrated into Audacity (yet) so, if you lose power, or Audacity crashes, your temp files are stranded. This will re-assemble them. If you are on Windows, use the command-line version written in C. 
 
Obviously you can get there from the Audacity site somehow but, I had to Google it. Hopefully having the link here will save someone time.

Update... Tried to use this tool to recovery a microtrack CF card. It recovered the files but they were garbage..

I tried another tool I've had luck with in the past, photorec.  It uses a different method and it recovered the files just fine.  So definitely give photorec a try if you're recoverin'..  it is shareware, runs under linux and windows and the source is available.

A free app is D. Chapman's ats2wav, (not easy to find so attached below)
The syntax is command line:
ats2wav D:\AUDIO_TS\ATS_01_0.IFO
typed in a command line window, after copying ats2wav.exe into the destination folder. You must "cd" into this folder in the command window prior to typing the above line. You'll possibly need to download the file cygwin1.dll from cygwin.com for it to work.

SoX http://sox.sourceforge.net/ - Super handy for merging, sample rate, and bit reduction. It can also take care of fades and has a ton of features I never used before. Available free for Mac, Win, and Linux.

I like to merge and re-sample on the fly, in one step, so as to not get funny results at the end points between files. Sometimes, the merged 24 bit files can be too big to work with so this program has been a savior for me.

This is a command line tool only so if you are big on GUIs you probably won't like it. The documentation is good though and it only takes a little practice to get nice results.
