Post by: twoodruff on May 12, 2004, 09:08:53 AM
I was wondering if someone knew where to buy bulk high end speaker cable, audio magic, nordost red dawn/blue heaven and the like?

You can get a variety of Kimber Kable and the DH Labs T-14 speaker wire in bulk from welbournelabs.com

You can get Cardas Crosslink starquad speaker cable in bulk from DIYcable.com (oddly enough, look under the audio connectors tab for this).

nah they came out to just over $55 between materials and shipping, the cat5 is cheap it's the connectors that get expensive.

Yeah, but how much is your time worth?  I made a set for me, there's no way in hell I'd make another set for someone else unless I was adequately compensated.

i didn't charge for labor since they were for a board regular, but normally i'd probably charge $40 for labor.  the triple t recipe i used isn't too time consuming, i probably spent two hours braiding another two stripping the wires and soldering on the spades.  imho if you use quality materials - i used upper end cat5 and rhodium/silver plated spades -  i don't think $100 is an unfair price but it sounds like jonny is willing to do them for under that.  :P

on the other hand i made a new set of ven haus recipe speaker cables for myself and i wouldn't consider making another pair for any less than $500 because they take forever to make.  i probably spent 30 hours on them and had about $100 in parts but they sure do sound nice. :)

I use Canare 4S11 speaker wire.  The stuff is awesome!  It can be bi-wired.  I bought it from a distributor in Albany, NY.  Below is there link.
