Mic pre-amp with AT822
« on: May 25, 2005, 11:31:34 PM »
Here is an ignorant question from a newbie.

I love my AT822 and have always just put it directly into my old first generation Sony mini disc recorded and been pretty happy with the results.  The mic is powered by an internal battery and seems to get decent signal strength.

I am now thinking of upgrading my recording device with maybe a Nomad JB3 or an Archos Gmini 400.

My question is this:  should I also be thinking about purchasing a mic pre-amp?  What would a mic pre-amp do for me?

Dan ???

you wont need a pre-amp with the at822 so long as your recorder can record via line-in. the jb3 does, not sure about the gmini.

A live concert to me is exciting because of all the electricity that is generated in the crowd and on stage. It's my favorite part of the business, live concerts.
