Has anyone successfully done this? What cable and what converter did you use?

just look under remote power where you posted this, for JB3 external power.
Several pages of information.

Not sure if this can be done with a 6vSLA.  One guy tried it and he had problems with his JB3, once he switched to a 12v SLA he had no problems.

If you want to power the JB3 with a car adapter you will need to use at least 7.2V RC batteries.  This is because you need at least 2v(?) difference in voltages to step it down to the proper voltage that the JB3 wants.

There is lots of info on this topic out there just do a quick search.

DPA 4061 (x1, hat mounted) > MPS 6010 > P-mod UA-5 >  NJB3 (48KHz)

Looking for another 4061 or even a pair of 406x mics to replace my single.  Please help me stealth in stereo.

You could drop the voltage down to ~5v by using a couple diodes as well, which don't need the ~2v or so overhead the voltage regulators require.

FWIW.  LDO voltage regulators only require 1v over desired output.
