External power for a Marantz PMD-661
« on: August 08, 2023, 01:53:11 PM »
From reading around this thread, it looks like people have used this battery for powering a Marantz PMD-661 in the field.

TalentCell Rechargeable YB12011000-USB Lithium ion Battery Pack

https://www.amazon.com/TalentCell-Rechargeable-11000mAh-14500mAh-26400mAh/dp/B016BJCRUO/ref=pd_lpo_sccl_2/135-7136205-1699450?pd_rd_w=e9RIc&content-id=amzn1.sym.116f529c-aa4d-4763-b2b6-4d614ec7dc00&pf_rd_p=116f529c-aa4d-4763-b2b6-4d614ec7dc00&pf_rd_r=SAN48F36HNM6KQJJ9BB1&pd_rd_wg=sVJX5&pd_rd_r=477f9b88-4bee-49bf-aa82-fcea8f6881a5&pd_rd_i=B016BJCRUO&psc=1

Can anyone confirm that the 5V option will work safely, and if so, are there additional cables I will need?

Thank you,
Bill

I bought a used 661 Mk III for DAT transfers, but got a nice USB power cable with it.
I've run it with phantom powered mics off a USB pack which gives 5 volts.

I use that talentcell. I Own a PMD661, but have not used it with that battery. I can vouch that the battery life is excellent with these.

When you get confused, listen to the music play!

Same.  I use these batteries for my deck (have two).  Battery life is fantastic.  I would not necessarily recommend smaller versions of this battery (YB1206000-USB) as I think their metering is not as accurate as this particular one.  Worth the price difference.

I'm using the smaller version (12v 6000 mAh/5v 12000 mAh) with my DR680 and works just fine.
