Topic: Help! Marantz PMD661 Firmware Update

I have an old PMD661 (the original not the Mark 2) with v1.17 firmware, meaning it is incompatible with many current large capacity HCSD cards.  Now in January 2022, it appears that Marantz no longer offers a firmware update. My understanding is that the last firmware version was v2.05. Does anyone have the firmware update or know where it can be accessed?

Try a Class 4 card if you can find one.

The:  SanDisk Ultra 32GB, 15MB/s, Class 4 :is a good one to try with an original PMD661 running F/W A1.16.

There is probably someone on here that has 2.05 if you can wait a day or two for them to see your inquiry!

Thanks––yes, that's what I am using, an old 4 MB one. I guess if I can't get the update I will take your advice. I just like having wider options for when they stop making those legacy cards.

I love the PMD661!

Updated–works perfectly! I love the PMD 661 also, especially when I need a simple, compact & reliable recorder. It had been hibernating in a draw for the last 5 years after I jumped for an SD 633. This can be overkill sometimes. Anyway, the PMD661 has forgiven all and is now back in the game.
