on a side note: if the cheap plastic thing comes off the end you actually screw onto the stan/railing/whatever, try taking a bicycle cap and screwing it on their, i GUARANTEE that bitch wont come off again, its worked like a charm since i put the bike cap on too Smiley

give it a try

from skalinder's post in the second thread:

In attempting to set up my new AKG 414s at home so I can figure out how the hell I'm gonna mount 'em (talk about a different ballgame than Schoeps actives), I realized my mic clamp screw cap is still missing.  Someone addressed this a while ago, and in a fit of unusually keen memory recollection, I remembered the solution!  (And yes, I searched, but couldn't seem to find the thread.)

I ran out to the garage and pulled the Schrader valve cap off my old spare tire and screwed it onto my clamp.  Problem solved.  To whoever originally posted the solution, thanks!  And to anyone who has lost the protective plastic cap on the tightening screw of the clamp pictured below, just grab a tire valve cap and you're back in business.

you can also buy those things at home depot or lowes.   i think i bought a bag of like 10 for a dollar.   usually try to keep one or two extras with me just in case.
