there were just some people talking about this- Swampy maybe?  check the recording gear section...  I think you can use a standard USB cable tho.

Edit:  found it - is this what you are looking for?

Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

Ya, its pretty cool, but the transfer is a bit slow... We were thinking that it would be as fast as it would take to transfer a show to the computer, but jb3 > jb3 took about 15 minutes for a little over an hour of data... It would be nice if it were faster so if you wanted to swap sources with someone you could just do it real quick after a show... oh well...

anyone know of any reason why the patch on the JB3 to JB3 transfer can't just be done via the optical Line Out on the recording deck and into the Optical Line In on the patching deck?  and just skip the 4 pin to 4 pin outs?  seems like that would be easy, any information is appreciated

I'm looking at the back of my JB3s I write this and there is a Line Out 1 and Line Out 2 on the back of the unit, are these analog outs, that what you are saying bornagaintaper?  sorry for these wookie questions but I just got this unit yesterday and the manual is utterly useless

Yes, analog outputs 1 and 2 on the back.  Even if you *could* transfer via S/PDIF optical, why would you want to?  Wouldn't it be a real-time transfer v. the burst speed of firewire/USB?

I was not thinking they were SPDIF/coax outs, I thought they were "optical outs" which could be simply patched in the receiving deck's "optical ins" which would be simple to do

Now I'm confused!  What's an "optical out"?  Same as the "optical in"?  The JB3 has a S/PDIF optical input.  At any rate, the JB3 has no optical output of any kind - S/PDIF or otherwise.  Not sure how optical > optical would be any simpler.  I suppose one less cable = simpler.  Fair enough.  :)

Ya, its not slow, but Bean and I were figuring it might take as little time as it does to transfer to PC. That way we could swap sources while we tore down and then be on out merry ways ;D

an extra 15 minutes with Bean in the section can feel like an eternity :P
