« on: May 10, 2007, 03:55:07 PM »
A buddy bought some 460's and we tried  them out last night, not so good. we are not sure were to set the switches on the mics. we had my UA5 cranked all the way up and the left chann just wouldn't keep up with the right. any thoughts ?

Did you switch the mics and cables around to see if the problem followed a certain piece of gear or if it always stayed in the same channel? Could have been a bad cable or something like that rather than the mics.

we did switch the cables around.  took off the older peaveys that came with the rig and put todds cables on there. im pretty sure those cables are in good shape, theyve been used consistently by todd and me and had no issues ever...(in retrospect i think the peavey cables are problably ok too, the mics are in question im pretty sure)

does one of the mics have the -10db pad (or +6db) enabled?  That could account for the differences in your levels.

id switch the caps as well - try to eliminate all possibilities

not sure how the positions on the 3 switches should be but as long as they are set identical on each mic it shouldnt make a difference
