Hey now,
I just got back from kc & IA -I taped both shows (140's->722) so here my question
I've borrowed this 722 from brad Z & I'm using a mac. and I can't seem to get the 722 to mount as a hard drive (plug it in pushed stop & HDD buttons it say connecting firewire and nothing happens)
is their some setting I don't have on in the menu something.
I would be very grateful "4" any help
( I'm totally new at this 722 thing)
I want to get these shows up

it shoudl just pop up as an external drive but I have never used mine witha mac before, but most folks have no issues, just unplug and try again it can picky sometimes, great combo of the 140>722 though!

Have you downloaded the manual from the SD website & read the section on firewire connections?
-
Should be nothing special. Just plug in and run.
But -- if you have 2.x version software/hardware there is a menu choice 82 Firewire Connection which you should set to Computer.
Genarally I like to turn the 722 off, then connect cables and finally turn on the 722, but then I am on a PC:

what firmware do you have installed? I had random firewire problems until the latter firmwaqre versions. try 2.15 and Id imagine it will lock on and read the drive without problems...
-
problem could also be either your firewire card or cable, try another device or another cable to double check

Xferring the files is a copy function on the menu list. I do not have my manual by the 'puter. Try and D/L the one at the SD site. Maybe someone else can help you, but if you are in a rush D/L'ing the manual will work.
Cheers

in the mean time, can i transfer files off my 722 hard drive onto a cf card placed in the slot on the 722? if yes, can someone walk me through it?
thanks for the help boojum. i found the walk through in the manual, which i've read a few times already and never noticed this mentioned ::)
until i figure out my connection issues this will be an ok workaround
Anytime. Any friend of Hunter Thompson's is a friend of mine. 8)
