Topic: Cell phones cause problems?

A friend who uses a DAT taped a couple of shows recently and had static on several songs for both shows. He thinks its due to the use of cell phones (he was text messaging and calling so another person could hear a song. Others near him wre also usingtheir cellphones. Is this possible?
