I came across an old (ca. 2003) recording of mine that I'd like to upload, but there's a major flaw with it (which I think was why I didn't upload it at the time): during one track, the recording level control (I was using a D8 at the time) got bumped, and there's a huge (and noticable) volume drop, which I corrected over the next couple of minutes, resulting in a "drop off a cliff" volume reduction, followed by a "slow crawl up a hill" (slow as in a minute or two) volume increase.
What I'd like to do is select the "crawl up the hill" part, and boost the volume during it so that the envelope of that part of the recording is flat/horizontal, and equal in level to the parts before it and after it. (The song's volume was pretty much constant end-to-end.) A straight fixed-#-of-db boost won't do it, nor will normalization (I think). I have Audacity, but it doesn't seem to have anything that'll do what I want. Can anybody offer any info or tips as to how to do this? Thanks!
