I wonder about boundary, and reflection effects from that big flat base. Are they dish shaped on the inside, or flat?
How does the insertion depth compare when using Schoeps actives vs. full bodies? Being able to get the base further from the diaphragm would reduce potential impact.
Is the windscreen foam permeable? Can you blow through the foam (from the side, not the mic hole), like you can with a shure or dpa? The windtechs, in comparison, are made with cheap foam that is not permeable.
Finally, anyone done any comps with demanding source material? Both vs. no screen and compared to DPAs and Shures while recording non-amplified material? That tends to reveal the sonic impact of windscreens. Also, the quiet passages tend to make wind noise more obvious.
