24bit/96kHz 5.1 computer sound card / speakers
« on: November 23, 2003, 12:41:55 AM »
Got a nice bonus check coming this week, so....

I'm looking to do two things:

1. Have true 24bit/96kHz playback through my computer.
2. Be able to playback 5.1 recordings/movies.

I was looking at the new M-Audio 5.1 monitors (LX4) with the M-Audio 7.1 soundcard (Revolution 7.1).

Any opinions on this setup? I'm on a bit of a budget (I think my check will be in the $400 neighborhood), and it looks like this can be had for less than $500.

Exactly why you ask? listen to 24bit live recordings with a laptop, as well as mixing my own home recordings in 5.1 surround.

If you have suggestions for something else to look at, that would be cool.

Thanks,
MIKE B
