take into account you will have to power the mics...  either through phantom power, or a pre amp..  then have all the connections you need, might have to get every adapter known to man.. but you should be able to get somthing recorded..  good luck. welcome aboard..

i think in the yardsale i saw brian was selling a power supply for 2 mics.. then you would just need cables and whatnot..  so my guess is that all could be had for bout $200.   the phantom power for 2 mics. the cheapest i've seen is 49.  and i think u might be able to get superlux pair with mounts and everything for less that 150 correct me someone if i'm wrong.  and then some cheap cables for like 10 per. and adapters, maybe another 20 or so from local rat shack.  (aka radio shack)  unless you wanna go stealthy, i'd check with sound pro's you can get good littl mics there and be ready to go.

good luck
matt

Dang, Jonny - you beat me to it.  Definitely check out the Archival Info forum, especially the newbie (http://www.taperssection.com/yabbse/index.php?board=14;action=display;threadid=4237) thread.

FWIW, Dave at MicSupply is a great guy, but due to lower volume his prices generally don't come close to some of the other popular online vendors: Sonic Sense (http://www.sonicsense.com), Masterpiece AV / Dale Pro Audio (http://www.daleproaudio.com), Cascade Media (http://www.cascademedia.net), Oade Bros (http://www.oade.com).  All these folks are extremely helpful if you call them and talk about what you're trying to do, your budget, etc.  So once you get an idea about what you want to do, drop 'em a line and they can consult even further.
